Binq Club Charity
Playing poker at any level requires a wide range of strengths. A player draws on a number of mental skills including their ability to strategise, problem solve and recall previous experiences to make the best possible decision, often under pressure.
Who We Support
Not having the privilege to access the skills mentioned above would severely impact a player's ability to play.
This is one of the reasons why Binq supports Alzheimer’s Society
Alzheimer’s Society offers help and hope to anyone affected by dementia. For far too long, people with dementia have had to struggle through their condition, without meaningful treatment or adequate support. Alzheimer’s Society campaign for a better and brighter future for all – one where dementia is a priority for local and national governments. Whether this is overhauling the social care system to make it fairer and easier to access or lobbying for the systemic changes that will improve diagnosis experiences, we’re tackling the major issues that people with dementia face.
Alzheimer’s Society invest in groundbreaking research, to find better ways of diagnosing, treating, and caring for people with dementia. Research will beat dementia – disease-modifying treatments which give people more time, and better time with their loved ones could be available on the NHS as early as 2026. But we need to increase momentum to give people with different types of dementia the treatment options that will end the devastation caused by this condition.
Until there’s a cure, people with dementia and their families will need meaningful and personalised support. Dedicated Dementia Advisers are available seven days a week over the phone and through services in local communities across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to offer compassionate support, information, and to intervene before people reach a point of crisis.
Alzheimer’s disease is a physical illness which damages a person’s brain. This eventually causes dementia. For over forty years, Alzheimer's Society has been doing wonderful work to help change, and improve the lives of those affected by dementia
Two of the most common symptoms are memory problems and the ability to think and reason. Just some of the things we may take for granted when sitting at the poker table
Starting in 2024, David McConachie will be donating a percentage of his profits from selected poker tournaments to Alzheimer’s Society. You can follow his progress at Binq’s justgiving page or by scanning the QR code
